Second season Win for Doohan🥇 🏁
Virtuosi Racing’s Jack Doohan has surged to his second victory of the 2022 F2 season, dominating the Sprint Race around the Hungaroring.
Sprint Race - P1
Doohan qualified P10 which handed him Reverse Grid Pole for the Sprint Race.
At the start, the Australian lost his advantage from pole to Enzo Fittipaldi, who had lined up alongside him on the front row, but into the second corner, Doohan capitalised on his lock-up to retake a lead he wouldn’t forfeit again.
Doohan pulled away from the competition as the Race went on and finished the race 5-seconds ahead of the competition for his second win of the year.
“The way we managed the Sprint Race from pole, bouncing back from yesterday’s disappointing result, it felt like more than a Sprint Race win. Super thankful to the team and the work they’ve been putting in to get us a strong race car."
Feature Race - DNF
After starting the Feature Race from P10, Doohan unfortunately suffered a Gearbox failure and was forced to retire from the race.
Doohan had moved into 5th in the Championship Standings after his Sprint Race win but has now dropped to 9th as a result of the Sunday’s DNF.
Doohan’s next round of the Formula 2 Championship will be at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium from 26-28 August.
