Doohan Announced as Alpine F1 Team Reserve Driver for 2023 🤝

Alpine have announced that Jack Doohan will act as the squad’s reserve driver during the upcoming F1 season, marking the next step for the Australian after his recent test and practice outings.

Doohan joined the Alpine Academy last year, combining work for the F1 team with a second F2 campaign, which yielded three wins, three pole positions and sixth in the standings.

In the closing stages of the year, Doohan also made his official Grand Prix weekend debut – building on initial test runs in older Alpine machinery – with FP1 outings in Mexico and Abu Dhabi.

Now, having also taken part in the 2022 post-season test in Abu Dhabi, 20-year-old Doohan has been given the official title of Alpine reserve driver.

It means he will be called upon should regular Alpine drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly be unable to compete.

Alongside his F1 reserve duties, Doohan will continue to compete in F2 for a third campaign in 2023, sticking with the Virtuosi Racing squad as Alpine set him the target of claiming the title.
