Doohan 4th in Monaco 🇲🇨
Sprint Race - P7
Doohan qualified P3 in the split Qualifying session on the streets of Monaco, with two seperate sessions running and times later combined. As a result, Doohan began P7 in the Reverse Grid Sprint Race.
The Aussie had a great start and was able to pass Pourchaire for P6, but was passed a lap later under braking and was back to P7.
The remainder of the race was uneventful with little passing opportunities, but Doohan claimed some points with his P7 finish and the fastest lap of the race.
Feature Race - P4
On Sunday, Doohan had a great start to the Sprint Race holding P3 off the line, pushing for a podium position.
The Alpine Racing Academy Driver had a good stop, but the Safety Car on lap 20 meant he lost a position to Vips who had a quicker stop and was pushed back to P4.
Doohan crossed the finish line in P4, claiming valuable points and now sits 6th in the Championship.
“In the Sprint Race unfortunately we couldn’t really do much as the race went pretty stationary, I put my focus into getting the fastest lap and picking up some points there. Started P3 in our Feature Race and was targeting to run longer, we began to push in the later part of the race but a Safety Car came out and I lost a position during the pit stop which put us back in 4th. Still finished P4, not what we wanted, but it is still good points and we have moved up in the Championship which is the main thing, all eyes are on Baku now!”
Doohan’s next round of the Formula 2 Championship will be at Baku from 10-12 June.
