DNF for Doohan at Imola 😔 

Sprint Race - P11  

After Practice at Imola was rescheduled from Friday morning due to treacherous wet conditions, Doohan put in an impressive late lap dash in the afternoon’s Qualifying session to secure P3. 

In Saturday’s Sprint Race, Doohan fell from P8 to P10 at the beginning after making his way unharmed through a Turn 1 scuffle.  

Doohan made his way up to into the ten just prior to half-way mark of the 25-lap race, but would struggle with the car balance and loose P10 just before the chequered flag. 

Feature Race - DNF  

Doohan began the Feature Race at Imola from P3, but when lunging for the middle of the track after the lights went out, Doohan knocked tyres with Hauger and was pushed into the car in front. 

Doohan’s steering was damaged and he was forced to retire from the race as a result. 

“Tricking conditions on Friday, a late adjustment in Qualifying actually took us from P21 to P3 which kept our weekend alive. In the Sprint Race I managed to make my way through Lap 1 without any damage, but we struggled with pace & car balance and wasn’t able to progress very far. I had a little bit of wheel spin off the start in the Feature, I went for a gap at the same time as Hauger which was an unfortunate racing incident and that was the end of our race.”  

Doohan’s next round of the Formula 2 Championship will be at Barcelona from 20-22 May.
