DNF for Doohan at Dutch GP 🇳🇱
Virtuosi Racing’s Jack Doohan has had a tough ending to the Dutch GP with a DNF in the Formula 2 Feature Race.
Sprint Race - P9
Doohan finished P2 in Qualifying, missing out on Pole Position by 0.226 seconds.
The Reverse Grid Sprint Race made for a tough start with Doohan beginning from the back of the field.
Overtakes at Zandvoort are notoriously tough, and as a result the F2 race was processional and Doohan finished P9.
Feature Race - DNF
Starting from the front row in Sunday’s Feature Race, Doohan had some wheel spin at lights out but managed to hang onto P2.
A Safety Car quickly came out on the opening lap for an incident further back in the field and the race was red flagged to fix the barrier.
When the race resumed, Doohan had DRS but a big lock-up on Lap 9 into the first corner meant he had to file back in behind with a major flat spot as a result.
Doohan had been in contention for victory until he was tagged by Verschoor from behind just prior to the second Safety Car resuming and was taken out of the race.
“Balance was spot on in the car and we were able to manage the tyres quite well, we didn’t get any points or overtakes in the Sprint Race and just missed out on points.
In our Feature Race we had a great stop by the team but on before the second Safety Car restart I got rear ended by the car behind me which sent me into the wall and unfortunately out of the race.”
Doohan’s next round of the Formula 2 Championship will be at Monza from September 9-11.
