Delight for Doohan with Maiden Euroformula Podium

Jack Doohan has secured his first podium in Euroformula with a P2 Finish in Race 5 which doubled as his maiden Rookie class victory at Round 3 of the Championship.

Race 5 – Position 2

Jack Doohan Doohan starred in opening qualifying on Saturday with a P2 result with a time of 1m31.984 seconds – the Rookie class pole position – and only just missing out on the outright pole by a mere 0.076 seconds.

Maintaining his position off the start, Doohan lapped competitively in his HWA-powered Dallara F317 and remained there until lap 10 when successfully challenged by Liam Lawson.

Following a spin for Lawson 5 laps later, Doohan moved back up into P2 where he stayed to the chequered flag on lap 19 to claim a fantastic first outright podium on only his third weekend in Euroformula and, with it, his maiden Rookie victory.

Race 6 – Position 7

Doohan’s final race at Hockenheim was badly impacted when he was tagged from behind at the hairpin and forced wide off the circuit.

After rejoining the track a long way down in P13, he scythed through the order with tremendous pace to eventually finish in P7 and as the P4 placed Rookie.

Doohan has now advanced to 8th from 12th in the Euroformula Championship Standings and is 4th in the Rookie Standings.

“It’s the first podium for the team and I in Euroformula Open and the pace is really starting to look competitive! Thanks to all the Double R Racing guys for the hard work all weekend. Looking forward to Spa!”
