Jack Doohan has starred at the Silverstone Rounds in the British F4 Championship, winning Round 26 and finishing 3rd in both other Races.

Round 25 – Position 3

Doohan qualified P4 in the tight battle for Pole Position and began the opening Race from the second row.

Doohan fought for position with fellow Red Bull Junior driver Dennis Hauger from Lap 1 and was able to hold him off for P3 and the Rookie Win, but was perplexed by the lack of pace in the Number 33.

Doohan’s Podium finish promoted him to 1st in the Rookie Standings as he remained 4th Overall.

Jack Doohan

“IT’S GOOD TO GET THE PODIUM AND A ROOKIE WIN BUT WE DIDN’T HAVE THE PACE FOR SOME REASON. DENNIS HAD MORE PACE AND I HAD TO WORK HARD TO STAY IN FRONT. I’LL WORK WITH THE TEAM TONIGHT TO SEE WHAT WE CAN DO AHEAD OF THE RACES TOMORROW.”

Round 26 – Position 1

The Red Bull Junior Team Driver again began P4 and had a great start to the race when the pole-sitter was overtaken and Doohan took the opportunity to run on the inside to claim P3 on one corner and P2 on the next.

From there, Doohan broke for the lead before an early Safety Car period on lap two prevented him from trying to pull away, but the perfect restart when the race resumed allowed the Australian to break away.

Doohan was unchallenged to take victory nearly three seconds ahead of the next racer and also claimed the fastest lap of the Race (56.990s / 103.62mph).

The win marked Doohan’s third outright race win of his rookie season.

Jack Doohan

“THE CONDITIONS WERE A BIT COOLER TODAY AND I MANAGED THE WARM-UP PROCEDURE WELL AND GOT MY TYRES WORKING WELL. WE FOUND SOME MORE PACE OVERNIGHT WHICH WAS GOOD AND IT’S GREAT TO WIN. THE OPENING LAP WAS A BIT DRAMATIC WITH PATRIK AND WE BANGED WHEELS ON THE EXIT OF BECKETTS BUT IT WAS A FAIR BATTLE AND WE CAME OUT OF IT RUNNING FIRST AND SECOND WHICH IS GOOD FOR THE TEAM. THE RESTART WAS KEY FOR ME AS I KNEW I HAD TO TIME IT RIGHT TO BREAK THE TOW. LUCKILY I MANAGED TO DO THAT AND I’M GOING TO KEEP TAKING THINGS RACE-BY-RACE AND SEE WHERE WE END UP WHEN WE GET TO BRANDS HATCH.”

Round 27 – Position 3

Starting from P5 based on the second-fastest qualifying times, Doohan climbed as high as P2 in the final Race of the weekend but dropped a position to finish P3, just over a second behind the race winner.

As well as claiming his third podium of the weekend, Doohan also claimed a hat-trick of Rookie Cup wins.

With only one round remaining in the series, Doohan remains 4th in Championship Standings, three points off 3rd and leading the Rookie Cup Standings by 15 points.

Doohan will now turn his focus to the final event of the British Formula 4 Championship, Rounds 28-30 at Brand Hatch GP, Kent on September 29-30.
